Patient monitors, infusion and syringe pumps and ventilators all rely on batteries to keep running during patient transport and power interruptions. As batteries age, run time drops and devices start showing low-battery alarms. This guide explains how to choose replacement medical equipment batteries in Australia.

Signs a Medical Battery Needs Replacing
- The device runs for much less time on battery than it used to.
- Frequent low-battery or battery-fault alarms.
- The battery will not fully charge, or the charge indicator drops quickly.
- The battery case is swollen, cracked or leaking. Remove it from service immediately.
- Your biomedical service schedule says the battery is due for replacement.
How to Find the Right Battery
1. Check the Part Number
The most reliable way to find the right battery is the part number printed on your existing battery label, for example Philips M4607A or Mindray LI34I001A. Search our site for that number.
2. Match the Device Model
Each product page lists the monitors, pumps or ventilators the battery is made for. Check your device model name and, where relevant, its generation or variant.
3. Match Voltage, Capacity and Connector
The voltage (V) must match your device. Capacity (mAh or Wh) affects run time. The connector and the shape of the pack must fit the battery bay.

- Label batteries with the date they were put into service.
- Dispose of old batteries through an approved battery recycling service, not general waste.
